In our busy lives, we find it difficult to justify time that is not spent with a specific outcome in mind. To be creative though, we need to pursue activities that may not have an immediate result or that may not actually work out at all.
Mistakes need not be viewed as disasters but opportunities to come up with innovative solutions. Being unafraid of errors gives opportunities for happy coincidences and learning. If something doesn’t go the way we planned, coming up with an alternative stretches our abilities and gently nudges us to try new things.
I regularly give myself *permission to play* making sample pieces to test out ideas or to try and improve techniques. Sometimes I come up with something that adds a certain zing to my work; other times it is a flop that gets shrugged off in the move onto the next imagining.
Suggestions will be posted to encourage you to play and make original quilts of your own. In other words you will be learning ideas for personalizing your quilts.
